The Lato system

Designed by Benedini Associati in 2015, Lato is a complete program of containers able to satisfy the most different areas of taste, offering a great variety of finishes on the fronts of the drawers: from woods, to marbles, to leather, to lacquered colors. The containers surfaces, in marine plywood, can be also covered in wood in different essences, or lacquered.
The program is designed to be combined with either the countertop washbasins from the Agape collection, or with the Corian® or marble tops from the Ell program. The drawers have no handles and are equipped with a push-pull and soft-close system for opening and closing. The length of the compositions can be customized to the centimeter.
Lato is available in two heights: 40 or 20 cm.
Lato 40

Lato was designed for an easy compositional process. Everything starts with the case, to which other components will be added. First the optional holes, if an over-countertop washbasin is used, then, until the entire available length is filled, the modules with drawers and open compartments. One of these open compartments will also act as an adjustment element for compositions made to measure. For the 40 cm high case the components and their mutual relations are represented in the diagram below:

Made to measure lengths require the inclusion of at least one open shelf unit.
2. Holes for washbasins
The holes are optional and necessary only if Lato is used as an under-basin container.
Thanks to its construction in phenolic plywood, it is possible to place the washbasins directly on the counter without the need of a countertop.
The holes ensure the compatibility of Lato with all the countertop washbasins in the Agape catalog.
In addition to the countertop washbasins, the Ell washbasin-countertops can also be used on the Lato compositions.
3. Drawers module h 40 cm
Drawer module height: 40 cm
Lengths: 40, 60, 80, 100, 120 cm
The drawer modules are push-pull with soft-close mechanism.
The module cannot be equipped with the second drawer if used in the under sink position.
4. Open shelves h 40 cm
Module height: 40 cm
Lengths: to the centimeter,
from 21 to 60 cm
The insertion of the open compartment is necessary for out-of-module case lengths.
It is not possible to place the h 40 cm open module in the under sink position.
5. Drawer front panels
Front height: 40 cm
Lengths: 40, 60, 80, 100, 120 cm
Fronts without handles and available in a number of different finishes and materials.

case height 20 cm
Lato 20 mantiene la stessa impostazione compositiva della versione alta 40 cm. Partendo dalla cassa, a quest’ultima si aggiungono eventuali forature (per lavabi in appoggio), e poi, fino a riempire l’intera lunghezza disponibile, i moduli con cassetti ed i vani a giorno uno dei quali fungerà anche da elemento di aggiustaggio per composizioni fuori modulo. Nel caso di una cassa alta 20 cm cambia il trattamento del contenitore sottolavabo. I componenti e le loro relazioni reciproche sono rappresentate nello schema qui sotto:

When place under the washbasin, the shelf will have a reduced depth and will feature an inspection panel.

Lato, in its two versions, is able to satisfy the most different functional and aesthetic needs. The plywood case allows the use of the washbasins directly on the container for projects that reduce the use of signs to a minimum. Front panels, partitions, case and veins dialogue in a subtle play of shadows and surfaces. Here are some examples of the possibilities offered by this system.
A "light" composition that uses the Lato 20 container detached from the support surface.
